REMOTE AUDITOR
The Remote Auditor will be responsible to assist with multiple client accounts performing client audits and on-going coding quality reviews. The Remote Auditor will be responsible for new-hire onboarding quality reviews and monthly to weekly maintenance quality reviews of Excite coders.
Overview:
Our growing HIM and Revenue Cycle consulting organization is looking to hire a Remote Auditor. The ideal candidate will hold a national medical coding certification, have at least 5 years medical coding experience, and have experience working in a remote environment.

Our Remote Auditor will:
- Perform inpatient, ambulatory surgery, emergency room, other hospital outpatient visits, and/or evaluation/management coding audits for technical and/or professional reporting
- Have a working knowledge of reimbursement systems (MS-DRG, APR-DRG, IPPPS, APC, RBRVS)
- Have ability to analyze audit results identifying patterns, trends, and key problematic areas with the ability to communicate specific opportunities for coder improvement initiatives
- Train coders on client systems and specific guidelines, and perform new hire onboarding quality reviews
- Audit coder’s work on a weekly and/or monthly basis and sends audit results to Excite leadership
- Provide education and training to Excite coders for internal audits and client coders for external audits
- Respond to coding questions from coders
- Refer issues to Excite leadership as appropriate
- Identify coding risks and problems proactively while making proper recommendations to Excite leadership
- Demonstrate effective time management skills by completing assignments within time constraints and calendar schedules
- Communicate professionally and effectively with coding staff and Excite leadership
- Keep current with new laws, regulations, and guidelines related to coding
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain professional certification(s)
- Utilize a laptop computer in a virtual office, windows-based environment
- Perform other duties as assigned/necessary
Desirables | Minimum Requirements:
- Formal HIM education with national certification (RHIA, RHIT) and/or CCS coding certification required
- At least 5 years inpatient, outpatient, and/or professional fee coding experience
- At least 3 years inpatient outpatient, and/or professional fee auditing experience (may be in conjunction with 5 years coding experience)
- Strong training background in coding and reimbursement
- Good oral and written communication skills as well as time management skills
- Ability to work remotely and independently
- Experience with various encoders
