  • Review appropriate provider documentation to determine principal diagnosis, co-morbidities and complications, secondary conditions, and surgical procedures
  • Utilize technical coding principals and DRG reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and PCS codes
  • Ensure all CC and MCC are captured during coding process
  • Assign present on admission (POA) value for inpatient diagnoses
  • Identify non-payment conditions (HAC) and when required, report through established procedures
  • Review documentation to verify and, when necessary, correct the patient disposition upon discharge
  • Under the direction of the coding manager, accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures as documented in the ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding and Coding Clinic for reporting
  • Resolve error reports associated with billing process
  • Identify and report error patterns
  • Assist in design and implementation of workflow changes to reduce billing errors when necessary
  • Maintain a 95% accuracy rate while meeting the facility productivity standardAt Excite, we value your unique background and want to be sure your experience matches the job. For the Remote Inpatient Coder position, you should meet the following criteria:
    • Must have at least five years strong IP Coding experience, preferably in a teaching hospital
    • Must have AHIMA certification (CCS, RHIT, RHIA)
    • Must have worked in a large acute care facility
    • Must have experience coding critical care patients including transplants, spinal fusion, sepsis, and neurology
    • Would prefer some Level I Trauma experience
